Job Description
SG2 Recruiting is a Red Hat Public Sector Team recruiting partner and we are looking for a Middleware Engineer to support client projects throughout the DC Metropolitan area. As a middleware consultant, you would be responsible for promoting the adoption of Red Hat's solutions in our government agencies, enterprise accounts, and service provider partners. Through a series of interactions both in-person and remotely, you will win the trust and confidence of customers' engineering, development, and operations teams by aligning their requirements and use cases with the functional capabilities of the solution. As a Cloud Consultant, you'll play a critical role in bringing together cross-functional teams from Red Hat Product Engineering, Support, Professional Services, and Sales to meet the needs of our most demanding customers. You will also act as the customer's advocate with these organizations to deliver the right solutions and ensure they are implemented and supported in an innovative and reliable way. We'll need you to have a thorough working knowledge and hands-on experience with JEE, middleware application architectures (i.e. enterprise integration, business automation, big data, mobility), and their supporting infrastructures. You will also need a good understanding of how to leverage our unique middleware applications (i.e. Red Hat JBoss Middleware, JBoss Fuse, and OpenShift) for implementing custom solutions, as well as capabilities in DevOps, continuous integration, and cloud-based development consulting projects.

Required Qualifications:
  • Permanent Resident or US Citizenship
  • 5-10 years of experience with Java EE, including enterprise web or middleware development project experience
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies, object-oriented design, and development principles including enterprise design patterns
  • Understanding of Java frameworks or libraries (i.e. Spring, Hibernate, Struts)
  • Proven experience working in fast-paced environment balancing a consulting and coding workload
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Comfortable working with highly distributed teams, including interaction with the open source communities over email and internet relay chat (IRC)
  • Ability to self-study and quickly learn and put new topics into practice
  • Passion for open source, software, tooling, and automation

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a quality assurance role or working with ticketing systems or bug tracking tools
  • Experience with any of the following:
    • Fuse Service Works components, (core ESB like Camel, AMQ), Rules, Governance, JON etc.
    • Large scale enterprise implementation experience
    • Experience in providing hands-on technical support
    • Shell scripting (Perl and/or Python)
    • Caching experience
  • Willingness to travel weekly to client locations throughout the United States
