Yard Goat

SUMMARY: The role of the Yard Goat drivers is to work directly with the Shipping and Receiving departments leadership team and move yard equipment from dock to dock as specified by the supervisor

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work shifts can include early starts, late finishes, and weekends
• During busy periods, overtime is required
• Operate Yard Goat/trailers in an effective manner with an emphasis on safety
• Perform trailer movements from dock door to dock door in a timely manner and with accurate record keeping as specified by the leadership team
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the yard goat and trailer, chock rear wheels when dropping a trailer
• Communicate and report any damaged or faulty equipment, partner with the leadership team to coordinate the repair
• Keep equipment clean and orderly daily
• Report any accidents and traffic violations to the leadership team
• During down time assist the Shipping and Receiving departments with material handling
• Operate forklift and pallet jack as needed by both departments
• Other duties may be assigned by the leadership team

• In specific assignments, an employee may occasionally work near moving equipment and have an increased risk of exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, biological hazards, airborne fumes, outdoor weather conditions and loud, prolonged noise

REQUIREMENTS:

• MUST know how to operate a forklift for more than 2 years
• NO experience required on Yard Goat
• Drivers License Class C with no driving record
• MUST e-verify
• MUST PASS BACKGROUND CHECK
