Women's Post Surgical / Med Surg Registered Nurse
Job Description
Our client, a 100+ bed healthcare facility, located near Cleveland, TN and located within 2 hrs of Great Smoky Mountains area of TN, within an hour of Knoxville and Chattanooga, has a need for a RN Women’s Services/Post Surgical to join their team. The Director says they do get a lot of Med Surg patients as well as women’s services. They have both day and night shifts available.
They are offering a $20,000 sign on bonus!
It’s not only women. It has some true med/surg type patients because c-wing is our med/surg overflow.
So type of patients would be:
- Med/surg
- Some post-surgical patients (i.e. appendectomy, hip fractures, etc.)
- Some Pediatrics
- Some Wound care (i.e. cellulitis)
- Some Post-Partum
The majority of the patient population lately has been med/surg patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition. Establishes a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient according to his or her capabilities and desires.
- Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
- Documents patient care given.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
Associate’s degree in Nursing: Required; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing: Preferred
Required Licenses
RN License in the State of TN or another compact state
Required Skills
- Basic Life Support (BLS - Required at the time of hire)Below certifications are required within 6 months of hire or when transferring into a new department with these requirements:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)
- Perioperative Nurse (CNOR)
- Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN)
- Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, Emotional Support (STABLE)
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
