Welding Technician - Advanced Metal Joining Techniques

As a Welding Technician, you will maintain our welding infrastructure, ensuring all welding processes—ARC, MIG, and TIG—are executed to the highest standards, contributing to our ongoing success and innovation in the industry.

Salary: Competitive hourly rate with OT paid at time and 1/2

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform ARC, MIG, and TIG welding across various positions with varying equipment and materials ensuring strong and durable joints.
  • Execute Oxy Fuel/Plasma/Saw cutting techniques effectively following safety protocols.
  • Understand and apply the necessary welding and cutting principles for optimal operation and material handling.
  • Conduct basic and advanced fabrication tasks from supplied prints or independent designs, including basic machining where needed.
  • Constantly assess and optimize work environment safety, maintaining a clean and safe workstation and aiding the implementation of safety protocols across the site.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; further education or certification in welding technologies preferred.
  • For Level I roles: 1-2 years related welding experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • For Level II roles: 2-4 years of intensive welding experience with deeper technical proficiency in welding techniques.
  • For Level III roles: Technical training certificates or an associate’s degree, plus 6-8 years related experience including proficiency in creating complex fabrications and structures autonomously.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, manuals, and blueprints.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematics and problem-solving skills relevant to fabrication and welding.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in ARC, MIG, and TIG welding preferred, especially for advanced level positions.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in metal fabrication.
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to setup and operate cutting torches, welding machines, and other fabrication equipment accurately and safely.
  • Strong analytical abilities to optimize workflow, reduce operational costs, and improve safety measures.

Skills:

  • Advanced hands-on skills in ARC, MIG, and TIG welding, with certifications highly valued.
  • Capable of reading and executing complex fabrication plans and welding schematics.
  • Exemplary safety record with a deep understanding of OSHA regulations and compliance.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of working within a team and documenting necessary reports and fabrication outcomes.
  • Physical dexterity and strength to manage heavy equipment and work in conditions involving heat and loud noise.
