This position will be responsible for day-to-day oversight of the welding department, monitoring workload, quality, and process optimization. In addition to the welding department, this position will have a matrix report from the engineering department to support process improvements and supporting innovative ideas to improve welding performance.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop & maintain weld schedules to meet production needs
- Oversee weld repairs and mitigating issues to ensuring that common and ongoing issues are addressed.
- Develop procedures to utilize Plasma-transferred arc (PTA) technology
- Monitor welder workmanship while developing welder skill sets
- Develop & implement welder training
- Project plans to maintain & improve the facilities welding capabilities
- Work to develop tooling and welding processes to enhance the performance of the welding department
- Monitor daily production tracking
- Direct labor & indirect labor hours
- Make sure Welding standards are in compliance with company & customer standards
- Scheduling & development
Educations & experience QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of 3 plus years’ experience in manufacturing environments in areas such as Materials and/or Weld Engineering are preferred
• Experience with military weld qualifications is a plus
• Experience with specialty metals is a plus
• Ability to coach, teach, & lead production employees
• Ability to lead change initiatives and drive process excellence
• Strong leadership, organizational, project management & inter-personal skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Works well in a fast-paced environment with minimal day-to-day supervision
• Exceptional data management (e.g., Excel spreadsheet creation) abilities, including related data analysis skills
