Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham has an exciting opportunity for a Welder L1 & L2.

  • Full Time Permanent Contract
  • 37.5hrs hours per week, days only
  • Job location: Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PB.
  • Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union.


To weld and in some cases manufacture and weld small assemblies to a high standard according to specification and to customer approved welding standards.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Clean products and parts before starting the process
  • Braise and spot weld
  • Check job pack items for correct amount and correct part number against BOM prior to carrying out any work and to escalate to the Line manager if not the case
  • Read weld data sheet for correct filler wire, gas pressures and any other anomalies as stated
  • Weld details to drawing specifications and to make adjustments post welding as required
  • To obtain weld approvals for the appropriate materials to be welded from customer audits and testing as appropriate
  • Verify parts are correct to the job card and processed following customer specifications
  • Responsible for identifying any failures with parts, completion of NCR forms and escalating to the Line Manager for rectification work
  • Ensure that processes and procedures are followed to ensure all tasks are performed efficiently and to the required quality standard
  • Must comply with relevant Environment, Health and Safety legislation and company policies, procedures and safe working systems
  • The job has responsibility for cross checking that all of the prior operations have been completed prior to commencing this operation
  • Other reasonable requests maybe asked

Position Requirements

Essential Criteria:

  • Welding qualification (including TIG and Braise) or minimum of 2 years experience in TIG, fabrication and welding
  • GCSE or equivalent including Maths & English
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Ability to read and understand customer specifications, drawings and visual aids
  • This role requires you to be able to lift parts on to a work bench up to 2kg

Desirable Criteria:

  • SAP or MRP experience
