Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Haverhill has an exciting opportunity for a Welder. The successful incumbent will be responsible for tig, vacuum welding various metals per many specifications, this includes automated and hand welding. The welder will also assist the Weld Engineer and establishing welding schedules.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible to attain and maintain weld certifications with all customers for all metals and thickness
  • Weld metal parts together using both gas welding and combination of arc welding processes, including MIG and TIG
  • Set up and operate welding equipment and loads welding fixtures to perform mechanize automatic inert gas arc welding operations.
  • Perform major and minor repair or rework on parts or assemblies, installs parts and performs final clean-up on completed assemblies
  • Set up and operate manual inert gas fusion welding equipment to perform weld operations.
  • Operate computer aided automatic welders such as Panjerus Air/Rototab welding equipment.
  • Assist Weld Engineer and establish welding schedules by setting proper argon flow, arc voltage amperes, holding pressure, carriage speed, welding wire feed, etc., on all mechanized weld equipment.
  • Set up and weld production joints on welding equipment for qualification settings as required by specifications.
  • Check completed units with various precision measuring instruments for conformity to specifications.
  • Sets up and runs certification and qualification on welding equipment as required by specifications.
  • Weld in various positions with mechanized equipment on parts or assemblies held by fixtures with or without chill bars on fixtures.
  • Aid in brazing before and after brazing operations.
  • Perform all welding except maintenance on tooling work
  • Basic housekeeping to maintain and cleanup area.
  • Maintain Audit ready work area
