JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Impulse, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Weld Set-up Operator in Madison, AL. The Weld Set-up Operator is responsible for:

  • Sets-up and performs layout to assist Welder to bond components and fabricate metal assemblies.
  • Measures and plans layouts, position, align, and fit components together for assembly.
  • Bolts, clamps, fits, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
  • Operates welding machine to produce trial workpieces, used to examine and test.
  • Positions and adjust fixtures, attachments, or workpieces on machine, using hand tools.
  • Adds components, chemicals, and solutions to welding machine, using hand tools.
  • Devises and builds fixtures used to bond components, during the welding process.
  • Examines metal product or assemblies to ensure specifications are met.
  • Performs repairs by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling of parts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements of a Weld Set-up Operator:

  • Must have at least 1 year of set-up experience with aluminum MIG welding. CNC experience is helpful.
  • Radial Arm Saw Experience-1 year minimum
  • Automotive environment background is a plus. Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings and written instructions.
  • Must be able to accurately read a tape measure.
  • Must have the following basic tools:
    • wire cutters
    • chisel
    • ball pean hammer
    • 25 ft tape measure
    • Allen wrench
    • crescent wrench
  • Physical - Must be able to push and lift up to approximately 50-80 pounds. This position involves manual labor using assigned tools. The position involves manual labor using assigned tools. The position requires the individual to reach, lift, stand, kneel, bend, stoop, and twist to accomplish tasks. Individual will be in various "position" throughout the workday.
  • Must have good had/eye coordination. Must be able to communicate well and work closely with Welder to stay "one step ahead."
  • Must be willing to occasionally work last minute overtime.

Conditions and Equipment:

  • Working conditions - typical production environment: hot/cold/dusty.
  • Equipment operation - operates drill, router, rivet gun, jig saw, drill press, shear & break machine, radial arm saw, milling machine and plasma torch.

  • REQUIRED Experience and Education
  • HS diploma/GED preferred. Must be able to read and write.
