Water and Wastewater Systems Electrical Engineer

Salary: DOE per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop detailed electrical systems for municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs are in accordance with project specifications and standards.
  • Engage in all phases of project development from concept through design and implementation.
  • Coordinate and communicate with clients and stakeholders during the project lifecycle.
  • Supervise and guide the work of junior engineers and support staff involved in project design.
  • Perform necessary electrical studies, including load calculations and energy analysis, to ensure robust designs.
  • Travel overnight occasionally as required to meet project demands and provide on-site technical support.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in consulting engineering, focusing on the design of power and control systems.
  • Proficient in using design software and tools relevant to electrical engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear and concise reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) License or Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T) certification.
  • Advanced experience in designing power and control systems specific to water and wastewater facilities.
  • Expertise in performing Arc Flash Hazard Analysis and familiarity with relevant NFPA standards and guidelines.
  • Prior experience in project management and team leadership roles.

Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, MATLAB, and other electrical design and simulation software.
  • In-depth knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and other applicable codes and regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
