Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Operations Manager of a family-owned specialty transportation company, offering a variety of services to include Rigging, Millwright work, Crating & Packaging, Industrial Storage and Heavy Haul Trucking.
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient and compliant warehouse facility and operation. Efficient warehouse management including overseeing the storage and management of heavy machinery, equipment, generators, and glass for high rise buildings, as well as inventory control, safety protocols, and cross-functional collaboration with teams, ensures company’s growth and success. Attitude and behavior consistent with core values of the organization, demonstrating a “can do” attitude with a “will do” work ethic. Able to work cooperatively and respectfully with other staff and colleagues. Provide feedback to support company growth. Set warehouse and team goals in collaboration with executive management and other team leaders. Identify opportunities to improve warehouse inventory management, procedures, and systems to enhance efficiency and productivity. Supervise the receiving, storing, and dispatching of heavy machinery, equipment, generators, and high-rise building materials. Develop and implement inventory management procedures to optimize space utilization and ensure accurate inventory counts. Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of materials to project sites. Prioritizes conflicting needs, handles issues expeditiously, proactively, and follows-through on projects to successful completion. Oversee the Jackson/Metuchen Warehouse Storage Manager and maintenance repair of warehouse equipment to ensure operational efficiency. Train and mentor warehouse staff on proper handling and storage techniques for heavy machinery and delicate materials. Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to coordinate material deliveries and storage requirements. Monitor real-time operations, identifying and resolving issues promptly to minimize inconvenience and maintain service quality. Coordinates with Management to assesses the labor and output needs for the warehouse. Ensure the warehouse is kept clean and organized. Implement safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for warehouse staff. Conduct regular inspections of warehouse facilities to identify and address any maintenance or safety issues. Implement appropriate safety and health, accident prevention, and investigation training for managers and supervisors. Maintain a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence. Comply with lighting and spacing regulations/requirements to maintain safety. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing the transportation storage industry including equipment safety standards. Promote a culture of safety and adherence to safety protocols among warehouse team and transportation personnel, providing training, guidance, and support as needed. Prepare and maintain accurate records of inventory levels, transactions, and warehouse activities. Generate and maintain reports on key performance indicators (KPIs). Ensure proper documentation and paperwork are completed for each shipment.

Background Required:
  • Warehouse management, construction or manufacturing environment (5 years)
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles and best practices
  • Proficiency in warehouse management software
  • Experience working with heavy machinery, equipment, and construction materials
  • Familiarity with the storage and handling requirements for glass and other delicate materials
  • Certification in forklift operation and other warehouse equipment
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel & Outlook)
  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Location: Central New Jersey (Relocation assistance provided)
