Position Summary

The Warehouse Lead / Supervisor is responsible for leading daily warehouse operations while serving as a hands-on leader who actively supports the warehouse team on the floor. This role is critical in ensuring operational excellence, inventory accuracy, on-time shipments, and strong customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and professionalism to effectively interact with customers, internal management, staffing agencies, and warehouse personnel. This individual will play a key role in rebuilding team engagement, strengthening operational discipline, and maintaining the high quality and delivery standards required by automotive customers.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations & Inventory Management

  • Oversee daily warehouse activities including receiving, storage, inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping
  • Ensure accurate and timely shipments to meet customer requirements
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and process compliance
  • Perform and enforce verification procedures, including critical material and shipment checks
  • Support repacking, inspection, material handling, and other warehouse activities as needed
  • Operate forklifts and assist with daily warehouse operations when necessary

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide hands-on leadership and maintain a strong presence on the warehouse floor
  • Lead, train, coach, and support warehouse associates and temporary staff
  • Foster a positive work environment and rebuild team engagement and trust
  • Address employee concerns proactively and promote open communication
  • Coordinate staffing needs and maintain effective relationships with staffing agencies
  • Monitor team performance and ensure adherence to company procedures and quality standards

Customer & Cross-Functional Communication

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customer shipping and warehouse-related matters
  • Respond professionally and promptly to customer inquiries, requests, and concerns
  • Maintain effective communication with management regarding operational performance, issues, and improvement plans
  • Coordinate closely with Procurement, Production, Logistics, external warehouses, vendors, and customers
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

Continuous Improvement & Compliance

  • Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all safety requirements
  • Monitor warehouse KPIs and implement corrective actions when necessary
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and workflow processes
  • Support operational excellence initiatives and continuous improvement activities
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Required

  • 3–5+ years of warehouse, distribution, or logistics experience
  • 1–3+ years of supervisory, lead, or management experience
  • Proven forklift operation experience and valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification immediately)
  • Strong customer-facing communication and relationship management skills
  • Experience leading warehouse teams in a hands-on environment
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, shipping operations, and warehouse processes
  • Ability to effectively communicate operational issues, risks, and solutions to management
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

Preferred

  • Experience in the automotive industry, particularly supporting OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers
  • Experience working in high-volume, fast-paced warehouse environments
  • Experience managing temporary workforce personnel and staffing agency relationships
  • ERP experience; QAD experience is highly preferred
