Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the President for a regional transportation provider.

The Vice President of Safety and Risk leads and manages all safety and risk functions-initiatives. Directs compliance with federal and industry regulations. Implements risk management initiatives with hands-on approach to accidents and auto liability situations. Reviews all appeals of accidents determined to be preventable and if not changed, forward appeal to the internal accident review committee for final decision. On call always to direct the handling of any serious accident. Is familiar with all serious accidents and work closely with the liability department and legal counsel to assist with defense in any litigation. Available as company witness or 30(b)6 corporate representative as needed for deposition or court appearances. Choose, contract with, and monitor the assignments of a nationwide insurance and accident adjustment firm to investigate all serious accidents which involve major property damage, serious injury, or death. Manages worker’s compensation and liability claim files that include the investigation, evaluation, and settlement. Communicates and makes presentations one on one, in groups, and publicly to executive team, insurance executives, and in risk related legal proceedings.

  • Accident avoidance technology & application for driver safety
  • Residence: Dallas, TX (relocation assistance)

  • Personal contacts within industry & DOT
  • Participant in state and national safety organizations
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (i.e. Supply Chain, Logistics or Transportation)
