The Vice President of R&D is an innovation agent, has a long-term strategic vision and knows how to guide their team towards new technological trends. The Vice President of R&D maintains business relationships with strategic clients, in order to fully understand their needs and with technology partners, in order to properly integrate new elements into their client solutions. The Vice President of R&D reports to the President and works closely with the Product Management team, to establish and implement the necessary plans and objectives for product development, in order to ensure that their products remain innovative and competitive versus the products of our competitors.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate business objectives and product requirements into development action plan.
  • Ensure that the various development projects are delivered on time and within the agreed budget.
  • Strategic planning and control of product development activities.
  • Communicate the development strategy to the team, prioritize actions while responding to the various challenges that may arise.
  • Evaluate and constantly optimize the organizational structure and the technologies used in order to improve the productivity of the team and to implement the necessary changes.
  • Communicate new trends and emerging technologies in the market and initiate innovations that could provide us with a competitive advantage.
  • Identify opportunities and new avenues that could be explored during contacts with clients; initiate industry comparisons and perform competitive benchmarking
  • Maintain business relationships with technology partners.
  • Assume a full range of leadership responsibilities which may include, but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, coaching and developing employees, assigning and directing work, managing performance and management of departmental budgets.
  • Show a constant desire to learn; seek opportunities for professional growth; continuously adapt its management techniques.
  • Attend various trainings and develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.

Requirements/Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to interpret technologies and market trends as the basis of the development plan for technology and products.
  • At least 15 years of engineering experience, including 7 years in a management position.
  • A university degree or any other equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Have a keen sense of organization and good management of time and priorities, both for the team and for yourself.
  • Travel for sales visits, visits to existing customers, trade shows and conferences is required for this position.
  • A positive attitude and a good ability to work in a team as well as the ability to multitask.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent skills in preparing and delivering presentations.
  • Skillful in motivating teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Bilingualism French and English is an asset.
