Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the CEO for a regional transportation provider

The Vice President of Operations leads trucking operations for 300 trucks, P&L, and a team of 60 non-driving associates. Upholds the profitability and values of the company on the operational level such as minimizing labor cost, increasing resource utilization, and maximizing revenue. Collaborates with senior leadership to establish strategic plans to achieve high-level revenue, safety, and performance goals. Directs, guides, and evaluates the performance of drivers and operations management. Designs and leads the execution of improvement plans while celebrating others’ successes to reinforce culture. Accesses all operations in part and in whole and develops forward-thinking solutions to drive change and elevate all-around performance. Manages risks by proactively review, audit, and train management to uphold safety and HR regulations. Stays compliant with current and new laws and phases in changes timely to be compliant. Produces reports and presentations to address issues and provide strategic plans. Leads project teams, delegate responsibilities, and see projects through. Leverages customer relationships and other leads to outreach for new opportunities. Works with Sales team to close deals. Deciphers and analyzes data from numerous reports from various sources; draw connections to ensure best business decisions are made. Collaborates with teams from multiple departments (Finance, Payroll, and Operations) and divisions on weekly shared responsibilities. Builds good rapport with employees at all levels and vendors. Maintains active communication with team to avoid disruption to workflow and ensure work volume is manageable. Prioritizes tasks to make most efficient use of time. Communicate realistic timelines with stakeholders.

  • Multi-company organization with 400+ employees
  • History of working within a growing trucking operation
  • Network optimization and asset utilization (Lane density and customer mapping)
  • P&L and budgeting
  • Fleet Management, Customer Service, and Load Planning
  • Safety, DOT, & FMCSA
  • Cost analysis
  • On-site training & development
  • Computer literate: Microsoft (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook)
  • Travel 10%.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Residence: Seattle, WA (relocation assistance)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Advanced degree: Master’s Degree in Business Administration or similar
