Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the CCO of a nearly $500 million drayage, container, regional, dedicated, truckload and logistics company that has been in business for over 50 years, specializing in intermodal services including, container depot operations, rail, warehousing and logistics throughout the West, Midwest, Ohio Valley, Gulf and East coast, with a team of over 160 multimodal experts and a fleet of over 1,300 company & independent contract drivers, with a driver turnover rate of less than 40%.
The VP Maintenance leads maintenance for 700 tractors, 500 trailers, & 1,600 chassis serviced from 21 locations with a staff of 100 managers, mechanics, & technicians. Drives execution on key performance indicators. Certifies maintenance procedures are being followed, check quality, and to ensure enterprise is receiving the best value. Ensures maintenance department’s strategic direction and operations are in line with overall company goals and values. Reviews financial results, determines priorities, and focuses to maximize business results. Prepares maintenance cost projections based on known and projected volumes. Hires and develops shop leaders, mechanics, parts technician, and schedulers. Identifies and plans maintenance capacity requirements. Develops cost reporting methods to increase understanding and identify opportunities to adjust strategy. Actively works with management for establishing equipment specifications for major capital expenditures (tractors and trailers). Remains current on industry trends and new product development. Oversees the emergency road service (ERS) program for all equipment operating out of the maintenance network.

- Maintenance, class 8 (10 yrs.)
- Maintenance Management-Truckload (7 years)
- Multiple facilities Management
- Establishing clearly defined maintenance procedures
- Full lease maintenance knowledge
- RPM (regular preventative maintenance) compliance
- Warranty Experience
- Equipment Breakdown Process
- Maintenance software (i.e.Trimble TMT Samsara, Cetaris)
- TMW Suites Software (ie: Shopfax), AS 400
- Willing to travel
- Fleet purchasing: worked with OEM vendors
- Vendor/Supplier management/ Parts Inventory Management
- Computer literate (Office 2000 suite, Power Point, Word, Excel)
- Residence, Newark, NJ (relocation assistance)
- Tire Maintenance & Recap Programs, including Scrap Rate
- Bulk fuel procurement
- Education: BA, BS, or Technical Degree
- Excellent facilitator with conflict resolution
- Building relationships with key suppliers
