Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the President of a regional transportation provider serving the steel, building materials, machinery, oil & gas, raw materials, aluminum, and automotive industries.

The Vice President of Maintenance is responsible for regular scheduled, unscheduled and risk maintenance for 1100, trucks, 1800 trailers within 5 shops. The tractors are primarily made up of International with some Peterbilt with an average age is 3 years. Oversees all maintenance done at outside shops. Leads 8 direct and 45 indirect reports (technicians, breakdown, admin); ~15 technicians need to be hired. Directs the breakdown department dealing with equipment experiencing issues on the road. Makes decisions regarding spend and approval for payment, with a $10 million-dollar operating budget. Maintains trailer cost-per-mile (CPM) at or better than industry standards. Maintains company computer system (TMT), including entering work orders, inventory, and trailer information. Provides leadership to build and maintain strong teams through effective communications and development measures. Provides continuous improvements in productivity, quality, and the efficiency of all maintenance operations. Consults with executive staff on operation and servicing divisions on equipment replacement needs. Contracts for repair services not performed in company shop. Contracts and negotiates pricing with third party vendors for all parts and supplies. Monitors usage, pricing, and credits for inventory at all locations. Manages DOT compliance and CSA maintenance BASIC to acceptable company standards. Sell-dispose of tractors and trailers retired form fleet due to age and-or condition. Sell other equipment as identified by executive management. Travel 20%.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience
