As a critical member of the leadership team, the Vice President of Accounting will oversee essential accounting operations, including loan portfolio accounting, accounts payable, tax compliance, general ledger management, cash management, and financial reporting. This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams across the organization. This is an onsite position that requires strong hands-on leadership and partnership with various departments.
What You'll Do
Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing accounting team with a focus on continuous improvement. Build a collaborative, inclusive culture where team members are empowered to grow and contribute their best.
Technical Accounting Expertise Ensure full compliance with US GAAP and IFRS by expertly managing key areas such as revenue recognition, expected credit loss modeling, lease accounting, income tax provisions, and intangible asset valuations.
Process Improvement & Technology Drive efficiency by leveraging technology to optimize accounting processes, vendor management, and reconciliations. Lead ERP and system implementations while championing automation initiatives that improve accuracy and reduce manual effort.
Collaboration & Communication Partner effectively with internal teams, senior leadership, and international stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. Communicate complex financial information clearly and contribute to strategic decision-making.
Integrity & Accountability Uphold the highest ethical standards while ensuring strict adherence to all corporate policies and internal controls.
What We're Looking For
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial reporting leadership
- Background in banking or financial services (preferred)
- Prior experience with a Big Four or public accounting firm
- Proven track record with accounting system implementations and process automation
Skills & Qualifications
- Deep expertise in US GAAP and IFRS
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax matters
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, changing environment and translate complex accounting concepts for non-technical audiences
Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods, with occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 20 lbs. Must be comfortable with prolonged computer use, typing, and data entry. Reliable transportation and occasional travel may be required.
