Position Responsibilities:
Will work cross functionally with existing staff and leadership and will focus on process, facility layout, inventory rationalization and transportation efficiencies to ensure best in class service to the customer. Responsible for involvement within vendor inventory, forecasting and demand planning process to optimize inventory turns and product availability. Consistently review stocking criterion at a product category, vendor, and regional basis to optimize in stock percentages at local DC level and balance overall carrying costs with cross shipping freight impacts. Works with VP of Operations and management team on major vendor, inventory, transportation, and distribution improvements. Works with the VP Operations and Branch Managers on optimization of data exchange and cross departmental process improvement. Reviews and provides guidance on cost control reports, cost estimates and facilities requirements forecasts. Provide guidance on day-to-day decisions procurement for core carrier programs, updates of pricing, transit and shipment visibility information systems, analysis of industry trends, margin improvement and pricing effectiveness. Involved in ensuring carrier performance, pricing, capacity development in order to execute cost effective transportation solutions and strategy. Coordinates and collaborates with other departments of the corporation in establishing and carrying out responsibilities. Develops plans in conjunctions with IT Dept. for new areas of technology for the functions along with sufficient planning for areas that support the mission of the Corporation within Operations. Challenge is to motivate and lead programs to effectively service the customer while decreasing cost, improving profitability and client relationships.

Background Required:
  • Senior Logistics & Inventory Optimization Management – Logistics, Transportation & Supply Chain Management (10 years)
  • Knowledgeable within Transportation (procurement, carrier acquisition, negotiating pricing and carrier development strategy)
  • Distribution related Key Performance Indicators (i.e., Inventory, Fill Rate, Backorders, Stock Outs, Past Due ETAs)
  • Drive optimization of inventory management in a multi-SKU, multivendor environment.
  • Systems knowledgeable (ERP, Transportation, Warehousing)
  • Route Management and Optimization (exception management, daily routes, scheduling, dispatch)
  • DC Layout, efficiency, technology
  • Asset Management (Fleet, Maintenance, Fuel, Tires etc.)
  • Develop & manage KPI’s (i.e. on-time performance, exception management, data integrity)
  • Process Improvement (i.e. Lean, Six Sigma)
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Suite: PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Residence: Boston, MA area
  • Education: College Graduate-BA or BS
