Vice President of Sales / Marketing (VP of Revenue)
Sequence has been retained and is currently seeking a passionate and dynamic Vice President of Revenue Generation (Sales & Marketing) to lead revenue generation and sales efforts for one of the nation's most vibrant and exciting renewable energy products distribution companies.
This position is structured to be based in Oregon (Portland, Medford, or other regional areas), but the right professional could be theoretically be located in a home office anywhere in the western United States with monthly visits to corporate headquarters.
Our client, established in the space as one of the leading players to consumers, is expanding sales efforts from its more traditional customer-centered focus other markets.
They have tasked us in the effort of finding a lead for all revenue generation activities. So, reporting directly to the CEO, the Vice President Revenue Generation (VP Rev) will be the commercial right hand of the CEO to run and scale the business.
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced sales and marketing leader who cares about both business success and a sustainable environment to join a renewable energy company at the start of a scaling phase with the potential to revolutionize and impact the way millions of people use energy and be part of the solution to climate change rather than part of the problem.
The role is responsible for the performance, strategy, and alignment of all departments within the organization that have any relation to revenue generation. This includes identifying and delivering new revenue opportunities in the market, growing revenue from the client base, creating a sustainable strategy for future growth, and delivering accurate revenue projections.
As a sales and marketing expert, the Vice President of Revenue must be a strategic pragmatist, while as a people manager, cultivating and providing opportunities for rising talent within the organization.
Experience with both e-commerce and direct sales is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the executive team and board of directors to develop growth strategies for pioneering new markets and competitive opportunities.
- Build a robust and accurate revenue pipeline and forecasting.
- Implement a tech strategy that delivers accurate data that can be used for future decision-making.
- Build a cohesive short, medium, and long-term revenue strategy that encompasses marketing, sales, product/service, and customer success teams.
- Create a 'lean start-up' mentality of constant experimentation and learning.
- Responsible for the sustainable growth of the business by increasing revenue year on year.
- Manage Sales groups, both residential and potential commercial and Marketing communications.
Experience:
- Experience of revenue ownership with a successful track record of success and demonstrable business expansion and growth.
- Proven successful sales team building and management experience.
- A deep knowledge of cross-channel marketing, native advertising, programmatic, and the latest trends in digital advertising.
- Thorough understanding of a wide range of technology.
- Strong ability with data analytics.
- Understanding of how to establish and maintain excellent relationships with C-level executives of key target clients and channel partners.
- Strong leadership experience with the ability to lead change and take others with you.
- Ability to facilitate discussions to resolve conflicting processes, content, opinions.
- Able to demonstrate a high degree of passion and energy while maintaining a positive outlook.
Ideally, this would include a track record of scaling a consumer-facing and commercial products from an organization of $30M to $100M+ revenue with a constantly curious about new business and technological innovations and a willingness to learn, adapt, and implement new things into the playbook. Plus to consideration would be digital marketing and selling into home or building products markets.
