Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the President for a regional transportation provider.

The Vice President, Maintenance directs maintenance for all trucks and trailers. Ensures that the TMT software is working properly, providing the detailed reports using data collected. Creates inventory management processes and procedures to account for all parts and warranties. Drives shop execution on key performance indicators. Certifies maintenance procedures are followed, check quality, and to ensure company is receiving the best value. Ensures shop strategic direction and operations are in line with overall business unit, company goals and values. Reviews financial results, determines priorities, and focuses to maximize business results. Confirms the shop receives, understands, and follows all service bulletins and updates impacting shop performance and maximizing equipment availability. Prepares maintenance cost projections based on known and projected volumes. Hires and develops shop leaders, mechanics, parts technician, and schedulers. Identifies and plans maintenance capacity requirements. Determines the skill mix of associates necessary to maximize shop efficiency and cost effectiveness. Continually monitors shop utilization to maximize work done in company shop. Develops cost reporting methods to increase understanding and identify opportunities to adjust strategy. Actively works with management for establishing equipment specifications for major capital expenditures (tractors and trailers). Oversees the emergency road service (ERS) program for all equipment.

Background Required:
  • Class-8 maintenance management (5 years)
  • Analytics & analysis to establish maintenance practices & procedures
  • Improved cost-per-mile (CPM)
  • Inventory management: Parts management, procurement & warranty
  • TMT software
  • Regular preventative maintenance compliance - RPM
  • Vendor relations and negotiations (onsite & on-the-road)
  • Equipment breakdown process

  • Education: BA, BS, or Technical Degree
