Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the CEO of a transportation company that provides third party logistic services for the automotive industry in North America.

The Vice President, Logistics will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of both the non-asset freight brokerage and the asset division which consists of 140 trucks, 170+ drivers and managing a $130 million-dollar P&L. Will manage customers inbound logistics programs and delivery to OEM automotive manufacturing assembly and sub assembly operations within the US and Mexico. Prepares & implements a corporate strategic plan including setting standards, processes and procedures for business unit. Will be responsible for the development of the overall strategic direction and business plan including P&L, annual budget and leading an aggressive asset-based growth plan. Departments; sales, operations, maintenance, safety, facilities, customer experience and driver recruiting. In addition, oversight of the freight brokerages continued growth and profitability. Key objectives include identifying and driving opportunities for growth and revenue improvement throughout the regions and implementation of cost and process optimization opportunities. Objective is to grow the asset-based fleet profitably, increase service levels, and achieve operational excellence as a Best in Class organization.

Background Required:
  • Automotive industry Logistics and Transportation operational management (10 years)
  • Experience growing a carrier into larger entity (sales growth, target market penetration, account management)
  • Fleet size (200-400 power units)
  • Personnel management (6-10 associates)
  • P&L & Balance Sheet (minimum $ 100 million revenue)
  • KPI’s & metric reporting to measure success
  • Strategic business planning & tactical execution
  • Committed to drivers - Understanding and own driver retention strategies
  • Identification of performance obstacles and cost reduction opportunities
  • Inbound to Manufacturing (VMI, Inbound Logistics and optimization, pool distribution, dedicated delivery)
  • TMS (i.e. McLeod)
  • Automotive Logistics Industry knowledgeable (i.e. Assembly, OEM, Tier 1, Tier 2)
  • Multi Modal Transportation (Truckload, LTL, Partials, Intermodal)
  • Inbound Logistics Programs
  • Deep and proven operating experience in a U.S. 3PL with a large and complex transportation network
  • Mergers and acquisitions and integration of high-target acquisitions
  • Lead the service enhancement, retention and growth of the dedicated transportation business
  • Champion the operational support of brokerage business
  • Update and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, standards and procedures in alignment with ISO standards
  • Computer Literate: Microsoft suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Travel anticipated between 20%-25%
  • Residence: Lexington, KY (relocation assistance)
