Vice President-General Manager


Salary Range:$135,000.00 - $185,000.00

Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the supply chain executive for a national manufacturing company.

The Vice President-General Manager directs, manages, and optimizes the overall operations for a single-site manufacturing operation. Day-to-day oversight of manufacturing and is accountable for the achievement of budgeted revenue and profit objectives for the site. Ensures financial information for site performance is prepared, available and in compliance with financial policies and reporting requirements. Collaborate to develop the goals, work plan strategies and high-level tactics related to manufacturing at the site. Sets policies and makes decisions guiding productivity, quality, and cost efficiency of plant operations. Establishes systems to collect metrics, analyze productivity and set performance targets that will meet revenue and cost goals. Leads the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Manages material requirements to increase inventory turns and reduce levels on hand. Guarantees robust plant safety and security procedures and training are in place and that operations are compliant with all required regulations. Leads any labor relations activities involving the plant. Directs plant level support functions including finance, safety, fabrication, engineering, parts, quality assurance, and human resources to ensure alignment with overall plant operations. Determines operations head count needs and ensures compliance with company policies. Employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development. Guidance for problem resolution to facilitate fast improvements and improved working relationships.

Background Required:
  • Manufacturing operations (7 years)
  • P&L, budgets, financial statements
  • Production metrics & KPI’s
  • Manufacturing methods and process improvement
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) or equivalent experience
  • Residence: Sioux City, IA (relocation assistance)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Multi-site manufacturing (Engineering, quality, safety, maintenance
  • Fabrication and Weld
  • Exposure to union-environment
  • Manufacturing improvement background, including Lean and/or continuous improvement.
  • Sourcing and fabricating in low labor countries (make versus buy)
  • Large cap-ex projects
  • Certifications (i.e. Manufacturing Engineering, Lean Six Sigma)
