Position Responsibilities:
Vice President-General Manager Reporting to the Executive Vice President for a regional transportation.
The Vice President-General Manager oversees the day-to-day operations for Operations, Payroll, HR. Responsible for office management, property management & upkeep, payroll, human resources, safety, risk, compliance, recruiting, and labor relations with unions. Actively involved in staffing the driver ranks and management personnel; screens all owner operators before placed; manages temporary labor in the metro operation. Interacts with two companies that fuel tractors in the off hours. Promotes a work environment with an emphasis on the company core values of safety, service, and communication. Utilizes data, analysis, and various metrics to drive continual improvement and cost reduction. Leads and develops people by providing a positive work environment through consistently promoting accountability and recognizing superior results. Actively promotes a safety culture by continual communication, training and support of policies and legal requirements. Promotes and leads employee retention initiatives with willingness to listen, interact, and assist in conflict resolution. Regularly communicates with outside terminals to provide leadership and support.
