OVERVIEW:

This is a senior role with deep financial responsibilities. With revenues in the hundreds of millions and strong brands in every major mall in Canada, we are looking for an effective leader to oversee our finance and accounting team. This stable, prosperous and entrepreneurial organization has a lot to offer an aspiring business leader. As Vice President of Finance, you will be a key member of the senior management team providing a crucial voice.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide leadership and coordination of accounting operations, financial reporting, planning, budget management and treasury functions and will ensure the integrity of accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Lead, manage and develop all accounting functions including:
    • General Ledger (GL)
    • Accounts Payable (A/P)
    • Accounts Receivable (A/R)
    • Inventory and Cost Accounting
    • Capital and Lease Accounting
    • Cash and Treasury
    • Maintenance and development of supporting ERP systems
  • Drive financial planning by analyzing performance and risks
  • Identify process improvements within the finance department
  • Retain constant awareness of the company’s financial position and act to prevent problems
  • Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Conduct analysis to make forecasts
  • Ensure adherence to financial laws and guidelines
  • Recommend benchmarks for measuring financial and operating performance
  • Manage the preparation of management reports
  • Manage the preparation of financial forecasts
  • Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and investment decisions
  • Oversee tax compliance and filings
  • Prepare for annual audits
  • Manage hedging
  • Liaise with banks
PREFERENCES:
  • Proven work experience in a similar role
  • Accounting designation
  • Thorough knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in both Canada and the US.
  • Direct experience with ERP and accounting reporting systems
  • Knowledge of federal, provincial and U.S. financial and tax regulations
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
  • Experience with day-to-day banking activities
  • Strong project management skills including corporate amalgamations and departmental system initiatives
