Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the President of regional transportation provider.

The Vice President of Operations is responsible for the regional day-to-day operations for an asset-based trucking fleet of 300 trucks. Responsibility is to optimize fleet operations daily as well as help set and implement operational goals and objectives across the company. Will work closely with company leadership and is responsible to help oversee and maintain P&L, annual budgeting, asset management and utilization, and driver recruiting/retention practices. Will oversee dispatch, routing, network design to maximize flee utilization. They will work to understand and implement new process to increase lane development and density with a focus to ensure that drivers are well respected and taken care of across the company.

Background Required:
  • Progressive responsibility within trucking operation leadership and management
  • History of working within a growing trucking operation
  • Network optimization and asset utilization (Lane density and customer mapping)
  • Familiarity of networks in transportation region
  • Driver retention, development & recruiting
  • P&L and budgeting
  • Fleet Management, Customer Service, and Load Planning
  • Safety, DOT, & FMCSA
  • Transportation Software (i.e., TMW, Tervo, PeopleNet, Omnitracs, Lytx)
  • Cost analysis
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Office Suite
  • Travel: Up to 25%
  • Residence: Gary, IN (relocation assistance)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Contract pricing, proposals, negotiation, including business development
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
