They have engaged ROSS to help them recruit a Verification Specialist, Embedded SystemsThey're located in Vaughan.

The candidate will be responsible for planning, development and execution of manual and automated tests against the advanced designs of embedded software, hardware and computers. The goal of the tests is to ensure that the implemented designs can correctly control peripheral devices, high-speed data acquisition and analog/digital inputs and outputs.

The ideal candidate is an individual who is curious and passionate about embedded development, and is always searching for innovative and effective ways to ensure quality of the product.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Develop product test plans and test protocols (Word/Excel),
  • Execute manual and automated test protocols and create defect records, test records and verification and traceability reports (JIRA, Word/Excel);
  • Set up verification environment using product parts, custom test jigs and various lab and measurement equipment (signal generators, power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.);
  • Automate parts of test protocols using emulation/scripting (HTML);
  • Learn the expected behavior of a system by reading system requirements, design documents and interacting with design team;
  • Collaborate with designers on creating subsystem requirements,
  • Collaborate in a cross-functional development team following the full design life cycle process and create corresponding reports, documents and records in full compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

  • Mandatory: 
    • College or University Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related,
    • 5+ years of strong hands-on verification experience for new product development,
    • Proven experience with creating extensive test plans, protocols and records,
    • Strong knowledge of verification strategies, methodologies and best practices,
    • Proficiency with MS Windows OS and Word/Excel,
    • Proven ability to work with digital electronics (e.g. voltmeters, oscilloscopes, etc.)
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. 
  • Nice to have: 
    • Experience with tools for requirements management, test management and defect tracking,
    • Experience with test automation, writing software code/scripts,
    • Ability to create custom PC configurations by changing its hardware components
