Value Stream Manager
JTL Services, Inc.has been retained to find top candidates for this growing business.
Our client is a rapidly growing aviation company with over 50 years of experience, specializes in designing, manufacturing, and distributing high-quality aircraft parts for the aviation markets. We are committed to delivering superior parts with exceptional, "old-fashioned" customer service. As our new Value Stream Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our operations and join a dedicated team of colleagues who are passionate about aviation, community, and the McFarlane way.
This isn’t just another manufacturing job — it’s a chance to lead high-impact operations that are visible across the organization and throughout the industry.
What You’ll Do
You’ll own the entire value stream — from raw material intake to precision-machined components delivered with perfection. Your mission? Drive operational excellence, inspire a cross-functional team, and ensure we meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and delivery in aviation manufacturing.
Operational Leadership
• Lead and support day-to-day shop floor operations with a sharp focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost in a high-mix machining environment.
• Oversee the machine shop team, including supervisors, engineers, planners and buyers, and operators to achieve the Value Stream goals.
• Use historical data, customer demand (internal & external), and future projections to align the Value Stream in a way that meets or exceeds expectations. This includes, but is not limited to, resource planning, machine utilization, employee productivity, and machine uptime.
• Coordinate cross-functional efforts to launch new aviation products and integrate new technologies.
• Support in the development of the Value Stream KPI’s (Safey, Quality, Delivery, Cost) and then track and refine as required to ensure the business objectives are being met.
• Ensure the Value Stream achieves budget through accountability, labor management, tooling & consumable spend, and material costs.
Make it Better
• Generate and communicate daily/weekly/monthly performance metrics — using ERP data to drive decisions and improvements.
• Troubleshoot and/or collaborate with technical experts as required to resolve operational issues and limit production downtime.
Team Development that Lifts Everyone
• Build, mentor, and empower a team of supervisors, leads, and individual contributors — developing skills that match our ambition.
• Be a visible leader on the floor. Motivate, coach, celebrate wins. Correct course when needed.
• Set clear expectations, conduct performance reviews, and create upskilling and growth opportunities that will enable career pathways for your team.
Quality & Compliance in Every Detail
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Engineering to ensure every part meets or exceeds aviation standards and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure compliance with aerospace regulations and customer-specific requirements, including FAA standards.
• Proactively address non-conformances and ensure effective corrective actions.
• Support calibration, inspection, and programming to maintain top-tier accuracy and quality.
Plan with Precision, Deliver with Confidence
• Collaborate with planning teams to align production with demand and product milestones.
• Monitor schedules, adjust for constraints, and keep production agile and responsive.
• Forecast bottlenecks before they ground us — and solve them before they’re even noticed.
Drive Continuous Improvement
• Champion Lean initiatives that eliminate waste and elevate process flow — including 5S, visual management, etc.
• Lead or support continuous improvement projects to enhance productivity, reduce setup times, and improve machining strategies.
• Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to optimize CNC programming and operational efficiencies.
• Challenge the status quo and champion smart, sustainable change.
Skills & Experience You Bring
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field — or equivalent hands-on experience in a complex, high-mix manufacturing environment.
• At least 3 years of leadership experience in manufacturing operations.
Make it Better
• Proven ability to optimize workforce planning — aligning labor, skills, and schedules to meet production goals.
• Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing teams, managing shifting priorities, and delivering results under pressure.
• Strong analytical skills with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.
• A passion for building something meaningful, with a commitment to safety, quality craftsmanship, and doing things the right way.
• A growth mindset — eager to learn, improve, and take on new challenges.
• Flexibility to wear multiple hats in a dynamic, hands-on environment.
• A true team player — collaborative, communicative, and committed to collective success.
Bonus Points If You Bring These (Preferred, but Not Required)
• Experience in aviation or aerospace manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with FAA regulations and customer-specific documentation standards.
• Hands-on experience in a machine shop environment and a solid understanding of machining workforce dynamics.
• Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T.
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems with the ability to use data for smart decision-making.
• Experience managing operational KPIs and departmental budgets to drive performance.
We offer:
• A collaborative culture where ideas take flight.
• High visibility with senior leadership and impact that’s seen company-wide.
• Opportunities to shape the future of aviation parts manufacturing.
• Competitive pay, growth opportunities, and a role that makes a difference.
