Value Stream Manager

The Value Steam Manager (VSM) will have full oversight and responsibility for the overall leadership and management of operations for the assigned value streams within the facility. This candidate must possess a working knowledge of LEAN value stream manufacturing, process development, leadership and a strong background in CNC manufacturing with integrated assembly operations. This leader will supervise and mentor Group Leaders and Team Leaders in order to work toward our vision of highly specified standard work adherence, as well as problem solving. This leader will also serve as the Manufacturing Engineering mentor in order to improve processes by way of good fundamental engineering theory.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- General management of all business facets such as production, manufacturing engineering, maintenance, toolmaking, customer service repair, materials, quality, etc.
- Report daily value stream metrics and explain abnormalities to the staff.
- Ensure daily production management in order to meet the production schedule, and assure quality standards are met continuously.
- Ensure fair and equal enforcement of company policies, as well as safety rules and guidelines set forth by Management, Human Resources, and EHS. This includes verbal coaching, initiating corrective action discussions, and creating/following through on specific performance improvement plans.
- Drive Quality into the process, and mentor good process quality thinking.
- Drive improvements to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, and Cost metrics.
- Ensure Group Leaders are fulfilling their appropriated daily management tasks such as CCCA meetings, ATF audits, maintaining cell board metrics, etc.
- Champion Kaizen efforts, identify waste and systemically eliminate and continue to relentlessly work toward a pure value stream.
- Create an environment where Team Leaders create and observe continuous standard work, and stop the process when abnormalities occur with appropriate action from a support team.
- Create an environment where abnormalities are seen as problems, which then yield a line stoppage (andon) and assure that a support structure is in place to react appropriately.
- Create an environment where line stoppages highlight problems, and the support team drives these problems into the CCCA (concerns, countermeasures, corrective actions) where root cause is identified and fixed in order to prevent reoccurrence.
- Promote adherence to good Manufacturing Engineering practices.
- Work closely with Product Design, Sales, and Project Management on product requirements and development of cost models, as well as a continual charge of derivative launches in order to stimulate demand.
- Work closely with HR in order to recruit and assure proper staffing for the assigned value stream needs.
- Lead and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team to sustain company initiatives.
- Review Product Line P&L statement, identify and drive margin improvement opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and possess experience in both Manufacturing Engineering and Operational Leadership. An MBA would be a strong positive.
- Proven ability to lead complicated systems, think fast and logically, withstand constant pressure and work in a fast pace environment.
- Self-starter who is well-organized, detail-oriented, creative and possesses excellent problem solving skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to plan, prioritize and execute work
- Strong time management skills; Must be able to handle multiple projects and important issues at one time.
- Proven ability to maintain and manage a dynamically changing schedule and balance overall workloads
- Ability to critically review fixture and gage designs and manage risks associated.
- Ability to work with employees at all levels of the company, as needed to implement companywide improvements and initiatives.
