CBIZ Talent & Compensation Solutions is assisting our client in their search for a Vice President of Operations.
Company Overview
Our client is a leading provider in the trucking and waste management industry, offering comprehensive logistics, waste collection, and recycling solutions to commercial, industrial, and residential customers.
Position Summary
The Vice President (VP) of Operations is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the company. This includes managing the daily activities of the trucking and waste management operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and the achievement of business objectives. The VP of Operations will work closely with other executive team members to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive growth and improve service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee all operational departments, including transportation, logistics, waste collection, recycling, mechanic, fabric and weld shops, human resources, accounting and finance.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational excellence.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and execute long-term strategic plans.
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements and growth initiatives.
- Lead the implementation of strategic projects and initiatives.
- Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost control and financial accountability.
- Oversee financial performance and implement measures to improve profitability.
- Work with the finance team to analyze financial data and make informed operational decisions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including environmental and transportation laws.
- Implement and maintain safety programs to protect employees and assets.
- Promote a culture of safety and regulatory compliance across all operations.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through efficient and reliable service delivery.
- Build and lead a high-performing operations team, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
- Develop succession plans and talent development programs.
- Evaluate and implement technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations, incorporating best practices into operations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
- Represent the company at industry events and in community engagements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Prior experience in a trucking/waste management industry REQUIRED.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in operations management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Prior experience in the trucking, waste management, or related industry.
- Proficiency in operational software and ERP systems; experience with Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to work in an office environment with travel to company locations and operational sites as needed.
- May require extended hours and availability outside regular business hours.
