The Vice President of Northern Operations is a senior executive responsible for leading and scaling a multi-market industrial construction operation across a major regional footprint. This role provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for large, self-perform construction teams while ensuring consistent delivery of safety, quality, financial performance, and client satisfaction. The position drives regional growth through strategic planning, client engagement, workforce development, and operational excellence. The Vice President partners closely with senior leadership, field teams, and key stakeholders to strengthen project execution, develop future leaders, and position the organization for sustained expansion across complex industrial sectors.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide executive leadership for regional industrial construction operations, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy, safety standards, and operational performance goals
  • Oversee large, self-perform construction teams across multiple trades, ensuring consistent project execution and strong field leadership
  • Maintain full operational and financial accountability for regional performance, including P&L oversight, forecasting, backlog management, and risk mitigation
  • Lead strategic growth initiatives through targeted client engagement, pursuit planning, and expansion into key industrial markets
  • Develop and implement regional operational strategies that strengthen project delivery, workforce utilization, and organizational scalability
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, internal stakeholders, regional leadership teams, and trade partners
  • Establish trust and productive collaboration with union leadership and skilled trade teams across the region
  • Assess and optimize operational structures, project leadership, and field performance to drive continuous improvement
  • Champion lean construction principles and operational excellence practices to improve productivity and project outcomes
  • Lead workforce planning initiatives including leadership development and succession planning for superintendents and project managers
  • Provide strategic oversight of active projects to ensure performance metrics, safety standards, and quality expectations are consistently achieved
  • Navigate organizational growth and generational workforce transitions while preserving a culture of integrity, accountability, and collaboration
Qualifications
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in industrial construction with at least 10 years in a senior leadership or operational role
  • Demonstrated success leading large self-perform construction teams across multiple trades
  • Deep understanding of project delivery methods including Design-Build, CMAR, and EPC
  • Proven financial acumen with experience in P&L oversight, forecasting, and operational risk management
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently throughout a multi-state regional territory
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, clients, and internal leadership teams
  • Track record of strategic planning and operational scaling within complex construction organizations
  • Experience within heavy industrial sectors such as pulp and paper, advanced manufacturing, or similar environments preferred
  • Proficiency with lean construction principles and continuous improvement practices
  • Familiarity with union labor environments and trade partner relationships
  • Strong client orientation with the ability to build long-term trusted partnerships
