Compensations: $150K-200K (DOE) plus bonus (depending on company’s performance) and benefits (after 3 months probation period)

Main Job duties:
Corporate Finance
- The direct supervision of all group accounting and financial functions related to internal and external financial reporting.
- Manage FP&A, accurately plan, forecast, and budget to support the company's major business decisions and long-term financial health.
- Review and analyze monthly and year financials, budgets and forecasts
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and provincial legislation, rules and regulations related to financial disclosure.
- Create, review and implement policies and procedures to identify, resolve, improve and document internal controls over safeguarding of assets, financial close and reporting processes.
- Prepare a range of financial reports, including trends, statements, summaries and cost/benefit analyses for executives and board of directors
- Coordinate with external partners including financial institutions, CRA, legal counsel and external auditors to deal with audits, transfer payment issues, income tax and sales tax regulations in various jurisdictions.
- Coordinate and ensure the completion of the annual external audit efficiently and effectively
- Coordinate quarterly, annual and forecasted income tax projections and provisions, review of annual income tax returns
Management
- Provide coaching, mentoring and leadership to accounting and management team in Canada and affiliated companies.
- Advise and be confidant to executives and Japanese directors on Canadian laws, regulations and accounting practices
- Prepare and administer the implementation of company fleet & liability insurance coverage and D&O coverage for the company & affiliated companies.
- Assist and coordinate with legal counsel for contracts or other issues.
- Oversee and advise HR department including benefit renewals and WorkSafe compliance
- Monitor and maintain all corporate licenses, scholarships, certifications, and leases.
Construction Division Oversight
- Review construction contracts and ensure common understanding of content. Assess and analyze risk and exposure.
- Oversee bonding and surety agreements and contract agreements.
Minimum Requirements:
- Proficiency in Japanese (both spoken and written) preferred
- A CPA designation and 7 years + of experience in similar position
- Thorough knowledge of Canadian finance, tax and employment principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
- Strong leadership skills, ability to motivate, and mentor as well as handle discipline and terminations issues.
- Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with ability to manage relations with all members of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in construction /project accounting and manufacturing environments
- US GAAP and US state sales tax knowledge an asset
- Familiar with ERP systems (Business Central) and implementation an asset.
