Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the President & COO for a leading privately held logistics provider that generates with over 2000 logistics professionals and over 7,000,000 square feet of warehousing space. Provides services for fulfillment, transportation, warehousing, packaging, or a combination thereof. Serves as a key distributor in the mid-west primarily within the automotive, CPG, Chemical and Paper Industries. Operates in multiple facilities in in the Mid-west, with other locations in Arizona and Alabama.
The VP of Business Development creates sales and marketing strategies which deliver corporate revenue & profit objectives. Provides direction to sales team and monitors their performance against assigned business goals. Leads or assists with the development and closure of new business opportunities through direct solicitation, lead generation, and customer development. Leads all efforts to create, grow and maintain key customer relationships. Creates and manages overall marketing plans, programs & budgets which support sales objectives. Displays industry knowledge, professionalism and enthusiasm in all internal and external business activities. Manages through a staff of 4 direct reports including sales and marketing personnel. Objective is to increase revenue, optimizing cost and maximizing profitability. Travel: Up to 50%

Background Required:
  • Sales Leadership within either supply chain/ warehousing/ distribution and transportation.(5 yrs)
  • Proven ability in team building, mentoring and growing talented individuals
  • Demonstrated ability closing business and organic growth of existing accounts
  • Directed the pricing proposal and contract negotiation approval process. (RFP, RFQ, RFI)
  • Reviewed quarterly plan (revenue targets, margin integrity, “value stream” analysis)
  • Computer literate (Office Suite, PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • CRM: (i.e. Salesforce.com)
  • Education: BS or BA degree
  • Residence: Northern Kentucky, Cincinnati, OH (relocation assistance)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Logistics or supply chain management industry
  • Multi-Modal (i.e. Freight Management, Freight Brokerage, Asset Based Transportation).
  • Advanced Degree –MBA
