VP of Business Development - Metal Casting
The Vice President of Business Development is responsible for shaping and executing the company’s commercial growth strategy, overseeing key customer relationships, and driving new sales opportunities for highly engineered components. This executive will build, lead, and develop a high-performing business development team, aligning talent and strategy to achieve long-term growth, while providing critical market insights and strategic guidance to the executive leadership team.
Essential Functions
- Partner directly with the President to define and execute the company’s commercial strategy, including building, scaling, and leading a high-performing internal sales organization aligned with long-term growth objectives.
- Lead the transformation of the company’s sales culture from a traditional, relationship-driven and outsourced model to a modern, data-informed, and performance-driven internal sales organization—delivering both near-term results and sustained growth.
- Own and drive the company’s commercial growth strategy, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities for highly engineered components across target markets.
- Manage and grow key customer relationships, including direct engagement with C-level executives, to strengthen partnerships and expand business opportunities.
- Provide strategic market insights, sales forecasts, and competitive intelligence to the executive leadership team to inform business decisions.
- Maintain strong customer satisfaction through proactive relationship management and responsiveness to customer needs.
- Oversee sales performance metrics, including weekly and monthly reporting, pipeline management, and long-range (3-year) sales projections to ensure growth targets are achieved.
- Hold accountability for commercial P&L performance, including revenue growth, margin optimization, and overall financial impact of sales initiatives.
- Conduct customer site visits and maintain a visible, engaged presence in key accounts.
- Ensure completion of assigned work within designated timeframes and maintain high standards of execution.
- Support contract reviews and negotiations, including customer agreements and NDAs, ensuring alignment with company objectives and risk management standards.
Must Haves:
- Ten plus years of progressive leadership experience within the manufacturing sector. Background in engineered products or components within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience partnering with executive leadership to develop and execute commercial strategy, including building, scaling, and leading internal sales teams.
- Deep commercial acumen with proven ability to manage client relationships, drive new business, and deliver market expansion in sectors such as automotive, engine parts, robotics, and data centers.
- Track record of innovative, energetic, and forward-thinking leadership capable of driving organizational transformation and challenging traditional industry norms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, or related field.
