VP Sales - B2B SaaS Company
POSITION: Vice President of Sales
LOCATION: Position is located in Austin, Texas. Candidates must either already live in Austin or be flexible to relocate.
COMPANY: Growing B2BSaaS company that develops data management systems.
CULTURE: Culture is very important to the CEO and it shows! He believes life is too short to just work at home all the time, so it is important that everyone is in the office at least a couple times a week to see everyone and build team spirit. They are collaborative, team oriented, forward thinking, always learning and trying to improve, seeking better ways to do things, innovate, build each other up, support new ideas, taking ownership, helping each other be successful and grow.
COMPENSATION: The comp range is $400-500k+ OTE for the first year. It will be a 50/50 plan with no cap on commissions and meaningful equity. The CEO wants someone who is very motivated and invested so he is willing to give up to 1% for the right person! However, the higher the equity the lower the guaranteed cash comp and vice versa. Comp package will include a competitive base, bonus, meaningful equity and a full benefits plan including 3 weeks PTO (not including all the holidays!) Plus, they have a really nice work/life balance. The CEO wants someone who is incentivized and committed to the team’s success. Client would like to know what you want to make and what is important to you. Client wants to hire someone who is motivated and confident in their ability to be successful in this role.
MANAGEMENT STYLE: This is a management position reporting to the CEO. However, he wants his direct reports to understand that THEY are the boss! He has a keen understanding of what the industry wants and the market, but he needs someone to manage the implementation of those ideas. The new VP will be more like his partner than his subordinate. He is the boss that he wished he had! He believes most people are awesome! He is very collaborative. He encourages people to tell him what they think, their ideas and strategy. He is a really hands-off kind of boss, but there to help you be successful.
COMMUNICATION STYLE: The CEO tries to shut it off on the weekends, but he is available if you need him. He believes in work/life balance. He is a family man, loves sports and believes it is important to be present. You can usually find him at one of his kids’ games or practice when he isn’t working. He believes that open and honest communication is essential. If there is a question or misunderstanding about anything, then he wants to be contacted ASAP. He doesn’t want people to hesitant to tell him their feelings, ideas, etc. He wants people to feel comfortable communicating, so he is always open and transparent. He believes people can disagree and still be nice and respectful to each other so they can just figure things out together.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have recent and significant experience in a sales leadership role growing a B2B SaaS company from nominal revenues to phenomenal revenues.
- Must be someone who enjoys the entrepreneurial atmosphere of a small company but has been through the experience of scaling up an organization/territory to significant revenues. Ideal candidates will have gone through the high growth and scalability issues of a startup or high growth stage B2B SaaS company.
- Must have experience working in a dynamic environment as well as experience growing a company, business unit, vertical, and/or territory from nominal revenues to phenomenal revenues at least once in your career.
- Must have recent and significant experience in a sales leadership role with team quota responsibility at a B2B SaaS company. The new VP of Sales will be directly responsible for revenue growth of the company. Must have a record of quota over-achievement.
