Position Responsibilities:
Vice President, Operations Reporting to the COO for a 31 year old, privately held & family owned transportation provider.

The Vice President, Operations Assumes responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the truckload business working with 8 direct reports (director of safety & compliance, director of maintenance, controller, director of operations, director of recruiting, director of dry van, director of bulk & director of dedicated). Responsibility is to direct the scheduling of labor and equipment to ensure the most economical utilization of our resources. Provide exceptional execution of transportation services to our customers, ensuring compliance with all regulatory or contractual issues relating to our customer base. Develop and manage projects from concept to implementation that have a high impact on the overall success of the division. Manage all costs across the division, i.e. repair and maintenance costs, travel expenses, driver wages, and fuel expenses. Participate in initiatives and partner with external or internal customers to improve systems and processes across the division and company. Ensure safety of our people and the motoring public, work with the Safety Director and staff to develop, and manage policies and programs consistent with our values and law. Challenge is to increase revenues and minimize cost, while maximizing utilization.

Background Required:

  • Truckload Operations Leadership (5 yrs)
  • Fleet Management, Customer Service, and Load Planning
  • CSA, DOT, HOS, ELD, EPA, FMCSA & OSHA knowledge
  • Establishing standard operating procedures, KPI’s and metrics)
  • Driver recruiting and retention strategies
  • P&L and budgeting
  • Industry Related Software (i.e. McLeod, TMW, Manhattan, Peoplenet, Omnitracs, Lytx)
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Office Suite
  • Residence: Atlanta, GA (relocation assistance)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Dashcams, forward facing
  • Network optimization and asset utilization
  • Dedicated Contract Carriage
