Summary of Position:

This position will report to an I&E Lead and support Company’s Operations. This individual must be able to install, maintain and repair instrumentation and electrical equipment as well as recommend, develop, and support implementation of new processes, and must be knowledgeable of the latest technological advances in instrumentation and measurement devices.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

The following represents most of the duties performed by the position but is not meant to be all-inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary. Employees are expected to comply with all regulatory, environmental, and safety rules and standards, as well as corporate policies.

As an VFD Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Troubleshooting AC controls, 480 volt motors, 4160 volt motors and 480V, 4160V, 13.8KV switch gear.
  • Conducting evaluation tests on motors, VFD and distribution equipment.
  • Repairing, inspecting, and troubleshooting of motor control systems.
  • Maintaining prints and files in proper place. Document work (as found as left) and update procedures, drawings, specs, and files.
  • Supervising outside service personal preforming work on our equipment.
  • Running conduit for small repairs or new tasks; repairing/changing light fixtures indoor and outdoor.
  • Inspecting, maintaining, and troubleshooting distribution and power transformers.
  • Troubleshooting problems and consulting directly with equipment vendors for resolution.
  • Staying abreast of changing technology through training opportunities, contact with suppliers/ representatives of equipment manufacturers and networking with others in the field.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping practices.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Have 5 years of experience process instrumentation/electrical maintenance experience in industry; or 2 years maintenance experience in industry and Associates Degree in Electrical Technology or Certificate of Technology in Electrical or possess a valid Journeyman Electrician license.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record required.
  • Must have knowledge of and ability to interpret the NEC Code Book.
  • Must be able to understand a project request from management, plan the project, determine, and order materials needed and be responsible for successful completion and start-up.
  • Must be proficient in troubleshooting using loop drawing, schematics, ladder logic, and P & I drawings.
  • Have experience with AC & DC motors & drives.
  • Be able to troubleshoot speed loop by measuring reference voltage, voltage output to the motor and speed feedback & ability to meg motors.
  • Must be experienced in performing preventive maintenance tasks, taking corrective action for repairs, and be knowledgeable in electrical equipment installations.
  • Be able to read electrical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Have experience in the use of computers and a basic knowledge of Word and Excel required.
  • Have knowledge of electrical and electronic principles and associated safety requirements.
  • Must demonstrate advanced organizational skills.
  • Be able to have forthright communication with field leadership; job progress, issues & resolutions, required manpower & equipment, etc.
  • Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Must be able to relate to other people and maintain good relationships with coworkers and peers.
  • Live in Orla, TX or within a 60-mile radius from Orla, TX.
    • Company paid housing will be provided during your working shift.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position.
  • Rotation offered is 10/4 (10 days on 4 days off) starting Tuesday’s
  • 10 – 12 hour shifts
  • Occasional call outs at nights
