Union Payroll Consultant

Temporary role with our client west of Pittsburgh, PA.
Hybrid Position: On-site at least 1 day per week


Summary

This is a hands-on leadership and advisory role focused on union payroll accuracy, compliance, systems alignment, and process improvement. Estimated duration of this engagement is 12-24 months.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level oversight and guidance for weekly union payroll processing
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex payroll issues related to union rules, job costing, and multi-state employment
  • Deliver subject-matter expertise in union payroll, including wage rates, fringes, deductions, benefit allocations, and prevailing or certified wage requirements
  • Review payroll outputs for accuracy, compliance, and consistency across jurisdictions
  • Support complex payroll corrections, adjustments, and compliance-driven changes
  • Coordinate with ADP on payroll tax filings, W-2s, quarterly reconciliations, and issue resolution
  • Advise on proper payroll setup, processing, and review within system; oversee and improve payroll system workflows
  • Establish review standards, documentation, and repeatable processes to improve control and sustainability
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with union payroll environment (required)
  • ADP payroll experience (Workforce Now, ADP Enterprise, or equivalent), including tax coordination (required)
  • Expertise in multi-state payroll taxes and regulatory compliance
  • Prior experience leading, mentoring, or advising payroll staff
  • Proven capability handling complex payroll scenarios with minimal supervision
  • Ability to step into a temporary advisory role and quickly assess, stabilize, and improve payroll operations
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
