Position Summary
The Personal Lines Underwriter is responsible for evaluating, analyzing, and underwriting personal insurance policies while ensuring compliance with company underwriting guidelines and Puerto Rico insurance regulations. This individual will partner closely with insurance agents and internal teams to deliver timely underwriting decisions and outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and underwrite Personal Lines insurance applications, including Auto, Homeowners, and related coverages.
- Assess risk exposures and determine eligibility, pricing, coverage, and underwriting terms.
- Analyze applications, loss history, inspections, and supporting documentation.
- Communicate underwriting decisions and recommendations to agents in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide guidance regarding underwriting guidelines, policy coverage, and eligibility requirements.
- Process renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and policy changes.
- Maintain accurate underwriting files and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and Puerto Rico insurance regulations.
- Contribute to portfolio profitability while maintaining a high level of customer service.
Qualifications
- Experience in Personal Lines underwriting or the insurance industry preferred.
- Knowledge of Personal Auto, Homeowners, and related insurance products is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and risk assessment skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and insurance management systems.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
