Project Manager – Underground Utilities & Earthwork

💰 Base Salary: $123,000 – $178,000 + Bonus + Full Benefits

Are you ready to lead critical underground utility and earthwork projects with one of Colorado’s most respected Heavy Civil contractors? We are actively seeking a Project Manager experienced in large-diameter pipe installation and mass excavation for major public infrastructure work—projects exceeding $200 million in scope.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a local, no-travel role that offers high-impact leadership, long-term career stability, and a direct line to executive-level decision-making. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering technical, self-performed work across excavation, underground utilities, structures, concrete, and paving.

Your Role

As Project Manager, you'll lead a team of engineers, field staff, and subcontractors through all phases of heavy civil underground and grading work—from pre-construction to closeout. You’ll oversee the contract, budget, schedule, and site execution, with full P&L responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead large-scale underground utility and dirt work operations

  • Drive project performance: safety, quality, cost, and schedule

  • Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors

  • Oversee all project documentation, change orders, and RFIs

  • Review and approve payables, invoices, and monthly cost reports

  • Maintain direct communication with clients, superintendents, and vendors

  • Support preconstruction, estimating, and project pursuit efforts

  • Mentor junior staff and enforce the company’s strong safety culture

  • Ensure compliance with all EEO/Affirmative Action and safety programs

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of construction experience with emphasis in:

    • Underground utility installation (large diameter)

    • Mass grading / earthwork

    • Concrete and paving (preferred)

  • Proven ability to manage budget, schedule, and field production

  • Excellent communication and leadership under pressure

  • Ability to manage complex logistics and multiple crews

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $123,000 – $178,000 (DOE)
