(UT) Manufacturer's Representative - Flooring
Details
Job Description
Engineered Hardwood Flooring Salt Lake City, Utah Utah Territory Commission-Only (1099)
In-Person Interviews — Salt Lake City: September 29, 2026
The Opportunity
Our client is an established wood products company representing a premium brand of engineered, prefinished hardwood flooring that is expanding into the Rocky Mountain region. The territory is open, with no existing dealer network.
This is an independent, commission-only role for a manufacturer’s representative who already calls on flooring dealers and wants to add a high-margin hardwood line. Existing dealer relationships matter most. Territory lines are flexible and will be shaped around the strength of the rep.
Client leadership will be in Salt Lake City on September 29 and is setting up in-person interviews with qualified representatives.
What You Will Do
- Prospect and open flooring distributors, flooring retailers, lumberyards, and design showrooms throughout Salt Lake City, Park City, Ogden, Provo/Orem, St. George, and the rest of Utah.
- Place display racks and sample boards (provided at no cost to dealers).
- Service every account: change out panels, remove discontinued products, and keep displays current.
- Train dealer sales staff on the product line.
- Route orders through the client using the client’s price list.
Performance Expectations
- Territory plan and contact with the top 10 target distributors, builders, and dealers within the first 30 days.
- 5–8 new display placements within the first 90 days.
- A service schedule in place for every placed display.
- Monthly placement, pipeline, and sales feedback to the client.
Required Qualifications
- Existing relationships with flooring distributors, retailers, and lumberyards in Utah. This is the most important qualification.
- Currently or previously a manufacturer’s representative carrying similar products, such as carpet, laminate, LVP, tile, or other flooring lines.
- 5+ years in the flooring industry.
- No directly competing engineered flooring lines.
- Own business setup: vehicle, insurance, and expenses.
- Able to install and service display racks (30+ lbs) and travel the territory year-round.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with wood flooring products, ideally engineered and prefinished hardwood.
- Existing coverage in Idaho, Colorado, Utah, or Montana.
Compensation
- Commission-only (independent contractor / 1099): 6% commission on the gross sale, paid by the client.
- No base salary or draw. Representative covers own travel and business expenses.
What the Line Provides
- Premium engineered, prefinished hardwood with strong margins.
- Open territory: the brand is new to the Rocky Mountain market.
- Display racks provided at no cost to dealers.
- Price list, product training, and sales support from the client.
Work Environment
Home-based in the Salt Lake City area with regular travel throughout Utah to dealer showrooms.
