Truck Mechanic/Driver
Truck Mechanics maintain and repair trucks and other heavy diesel vehicles. They diagnose and repair brakes, engines, suspension and steering, and perform tasks from routine services to complete engine rebuilds. This position may require the Truck Mechanic to driver vehicles as required.
Job Duties:
- Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on heavy vehicles, including both diesel and gasoline-powered engines.
- Operate and drive heavy trucks (requires Heavy T License).
- Troubleshoot and repair 12V and 24V electrical systems using multimeters, OBD diagnostic tools, and other relevant equipment.
- Lead a team of technicians, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality repair work.
- Perform minor fabrication tasks (e.g., arc welding, MIG welding, cutting, grinding, bolt removal).
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and create service schedules.
- Maintain detailed records and complete reports on all maintenance and repair activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols at all times.
Qualifications:
- Mandatory: Heavy T License for operating large vehicles.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years working with heavy vehicles (both diesel and gasoline engines).
- Electrical Systems: Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing 12V and 24V electrical systems.
- Fabrication Skills: Skilled in welding (arc, MIG), using an acetylene cutting torch, grinder, and drill press.
- Reporting: Strong reading and writing skills to accurately complete maintenance and repair reports.
- Interpersonal Skills: Good communication and teamwork skills to effectively interact with colleagues and lead the technician team.
- Mechanical Certifications: Certifications in Diesel Technology, Heavy Vehicle Repair, or equivalent field are an advantage.
- Hydraulic Equipment: Experience with servicing hydraulic equipment is an asset.
Experience:
- Proven track record working with heavy vehicles, with specific experience in both diesel and gasoline engines.
- Expertise in using diagnostic tools (OBD) and performing electrical repairs on heavy trucks.
- Experience in metalworking and performing minor fabrication jobs during repair tasks.
- Any hydraulic equipment service experience is considered an asset.
