Traveling Superintendent
Summary
Our client is seeking a Traveling Superintendent responsible for coordinating construction activities and supervising field personnel at job sites located outside the local region, including out-of-state projects. This role is essential to ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction.
Duties

Collaborate with Project Managers to obtain permits, update schedules, and maintain project documentation.

Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, ensuring efficient and safe execution of work.

Direct and supervise trade workers while maintaining compliance with safety programs, building codes, and industry standards.

Oversee material quality, workmanship, and installation per specifications.

Prepare and manage three-week look-ahead schedules.

Lead weekly subcontractor meetings for planning, scheduling, quality control, and safety.

Review shop drawings and submittals for coordination of work.

Document daily jobsite activities and maintain accurate records.

Manage challenges related to delays, weather, or site emergencies.

Oversee project closeout, including punch lists and final acceptance.

Support jobsite administration, including meeting agendas, subcontractor meetings, and distribution of minutes.
Qualifications
Education
-
High school diploma required; trade school, apprenticeship, or college coursework preferred.
Licenses & Certifications

Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving history.

OSHA 30-Hour Certification required.

Preferred: LEED AP, First Aid/CPR/AED, and SWPPP certifications.
Skills & Experience

8+ years of construction industry experience.

Strong ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contracts.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of Procore preferred.

Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Ability to oversee multiple projects and adapt quickly to changing conditions.

Experience with surveying or layout checking using total station or theodolite a plus.
Other Requirements

Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Willingness to travel 75–100% of the time, including overnight stays and extended jobsite assignments.

Physical ability to work in construction environments, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and walking long distances on uneven surfaces.
