Traveling Superintendent - Construction
The Traveling Superintendent is a senior field leadership role responsible for overseeing the execution of commercial construction projects across multiple geographic locations. This position provides strategic direction and hands-on leadership from preconstruction through project completion, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, safety, and quality standards. - Lead all on-site construction activities from preconstruction through final completion
- Oversee and manage project schedules to ensure timely delivery of all phases of construction
- Coordinate and direct subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to maintain workflow efficiency
- Enforce strict adherence to job site safety standards and ensure OSHA compliance across all activities
- Take ownership of active projects, ensuring seamless transitions and continuity in execution
- Establish and maintain control of scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and daily site operations
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, clients, and internal stakeholders
- Drive consistent communication with project teams and leadership regarding progress, risks, and solutions
- Lead multiple project assignments across various locations, adapting to differing scopes and environments
- Identify and proactively resolve issues to maintain project momentum and minimize disruptions
- Ensure quality standards are met through detailed oversight and consistent follow-through
- Promote operational efficiency and consistency in field execution, reporting, and coordination
- Maintain high performance and leadership effectiveness in a travel-intensive environment
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of superintendent or field leadership experience in commercial construction
- Demonstrated ability to manage full project schedules from preconstruction through completion
- Strong commitment to job site safety with OSHA 30 certification
- Willingness and ability to travel consistently across regional job sites
- Proven experience leading subcontractors and coordinating active construction sites
- Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore or Project Site
- Experience in hospitality, healthcare, cold storage, or multifamily construction environments preferred
- Familiarity with tilt-up or prefabricated construction methods preferred
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong forward-thinking mindset with the ability to anticipate next steps
- Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical follow-through
