Trauma Program Coordinator

The hospital has 130 beds, all in private rooms. It is the regional trauma center for its region and features many centers of excellence, including neuroscience, orthopedics, rehabilitation, birthing center, imaging, stroke and cancer care. They are fully accredited by The Joint Commission.

They have an opening for a true "A" player to spearhead their strong Trauma Program Coordinator departments in the evenings.

The Trauma Program Manager is accountable for the delivery of high quality nursing care and for the injury prevention program, the quality improvement process, daily patient flow, and other duties as assigned. The role of the Trauma Program Manager is to help promote the delivery of optimal, cost-effective trauma care. This individual assists in daily patient flow, in coordinating the systems and services required for an organized, comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of the trauma patient, as well as promoting the Injury Prevention Program. The functions of this role include administrative responsibilities, clinical activities, professional and public education, performance improvement activities, trauma research, injury prevention research, active community participation in committees and events related to reducing the risks of injury to the general population, supervision of daily patient flow throughout the hospital including patient admission, transfer and discharge and coordination of required staffing needs. Each of these role components requires the Trauma Coordinator to function as a consultant/liaison, clinical resource, and educator.

Qualifications:

Education, Licensures, and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's Required.
  • Master's Preferred.
  • Minimum of 16 hours/yr of trauma related continuing education, of which 4 hrs in pediatric trauma.
  • Registered Nurse - State Licensure - upon hire is required.
  • Certified Emergency Room RN - CEN strongly preferred.
  • Trauma Nursing Corp Course -TNCC required.
  • Certified Critical Care RN - CCCRN - certified for adults, pediatric, and neonatal critical care services strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support - ACLS upon hire is required.
Experience:
  • Education and clinical experience in trauma care of adults required.
  • 4 years or more clinical nursing experience in an emergency department or critical care unit in a trauma center required.
  • 2 years in a leadership/management position preferred.
  • Process Improvement Experience required
  • Knowledge in Lean Principles
  • Injury Prevention Experience
