Position Responsibilities:
Reports to the COO of a fast-growing, 3rd generation, family owned, recycling company. Focused on servicing manufacturers, industries, individuals, and community programs. Processes and transports over 550 million pounds of recycled materials per year with over $100 million in revenues. Employs over 120 associates, two company locations, and several on site locations. Takes pride in being hands-on, people-minded, and service oriented. Values respect, relationships, maintaining their service niche, profitability, growing the company, and being a good citizen to the communities it serves.
The Transportation & Logistics Manager ensures shipments are handled expeditiously, safely, and within budget constraints through its private fleet and with third party carriers. They oversee equipment, repairs, personnel, and fleet operations. Duties include analyzing and negotiating the best rates with outside carriers versus the private fleet. Manage a team of 5 office personnel handling billing, invoicing, scales, equipment requirements, dispatching, managing, and negotiating rates with outside carriers. Also manages, trains and mentors 20+ CDL drivers. Oversees routing, scheduling, and servicing of lanes within a roughly 100-mile radius of Marion, OH. Involves planning, forecasting, profitability, exceeding KPIs, resolving problems, and anticipating needs. Making sure the client is served at the highest level, while staying complaint with the DOT and FMCSA. The goal is to find ways to optimize efficiency, reduce expenses, and maximize profitability.

Background Required:
  • Asset Based Transportation & Logistics Management (5 yrs)
  • Knowledgeable in DOT, FMCSA, and HOS
  • Fleet Management (25 trucks, 20 drivers)
  • Routing and scheduling

  • Forecasting, profit analysis, budget and addressing staff needs
