Transport Officer

As Transport Manager, you will oversee and optimize daily operations, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and quality by managing resources, leading teams, developing strategies, and implementing process improvements to achieve organizational goals.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the daily transport activities of the company.
• Monitoring of drivers and fueling of trucks.
• Responsible for purchasing of spare-parts, maintenance and servicing of all trucks.
• Test driving of new drivers and confirming their competence for employment.
• Emergency response to truck breakdowns and organizing all the necessary logistics such as parts, mechanics and the necessary funds for a swift solution.
• Ensuring safety loading and daily inspections of trucks and drivers.
• Record keeping of all driver and vehicle activities

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight:

• Manage and coordinate day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth workflow and timely execution of tasks.
• Identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Monitor and analyze operational performance, identifying trends and areas for optimization.

Resource Management:

• Allocate and manage resources (human, financial, and material) effectively to support operational goals.
• Develop and manage budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource allocation aligns with strategic objectives.
• Manage inventory and supply chain processes to ensure timely delivery and minimize costs.

Team Leadership and Development:

• Lead, motivate and coach drivers, fostering a positive and high-performing work environment.
• Provide training and development opportunities to enhance employee skills and capabilities.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to improve team performance.

Strategic Planning and Execution:

• Develop and implement operational strategies that align with the company's overall goals and objectives.
• Identify and analyze operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to continuously improve operational performance.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

• Ensure adherence to quality standards and industry regulations.
• Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure product or service quality.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.

Communication and Collaboration:

• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing timely updates and addressing concerns.
• Collaborate with other departments and teams to achieve organizational goals.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience (at least 3 years) in a similar role within the transportation or logistics industry.
• Strong knowledge of transport operations, fleet management, and logistics processes.
• Proficiency in using relevant software applications for fleet management, inventory control, and operational reporting.
