Position Overview

The Transformer Field Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the on-site assembly, installation, and inspection of the company’s power transformer equipment. This role acts as the subject matter expert (SME) for field activities related to transformer assembly in transmission, distribution, and generation substations, as well as for coordinating and guiding subcontractors performing this work.

The position involves reviewing factory and field test documentation (FAT reports), transformer outline drawings, and customer technical specifications, while ensuring that project timelines, quality expectations, and budget targets set by the company are consistently met. Prior experience working in a transformer manufacturing environment or supervising extra-high-voltage (EHV) transformer assembly and warranty/service inspections is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion a strong safety culture on all job sites, both internally and when interacting with customers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Understand and interpret customer technical requirements and translate them into clear field execution plans.
  • Maintain familiarity with key transformer component suppliers (e.g., arresters, bushings, relays, ETMs, PRDs, control cabinets, etc.) and their products.
  • Apply working knowledge of relevant industry standards (including IEEE and ANSI) in all field activities and reviews.
  • Confirm that designs, assemblies, and installation practices comply with customer specifications and applicable standards.
  • Ensure timely review and turnaround of technical data, drawings, and test reports.
  • Manage multiple priorities effectively and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support and oversee physical substation work, including assembly, installation, and testing of transformers (in coordination with subcontractors).
  • Serve as a key point of contact for customers, suppliers, engineering teams, and project managers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide hands-on expertise for bushing installation and connection on EHV transformers.
  • Work in demanding field environments and perform internal inspections of transformers as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a relevant engineering or field role.
  • Demonstrated ability to tackle complex technical issues by adapting and improving standard methods, processes, and procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently, up to approximately 75% of the time.
