Now Hiring: Traffic Analysis Engineer – Fairfax, VA

Our client, a leading multimodal transportation engineering consultancy, is seeking a Traffic Engineer to join their collaborative and growing Fairfax, Virginia office. You’ll work alongside experienced traffic engineers on impactful public and private sector projects while developing strong technical and analytical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of Traffic Impact Studies (TIS), Transportation Demand Management (TDM) plans, parking studies, and related analyses for land development projects throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

  • Perform operational analyses for intersections, corridors, and networks using Synchro, SimTraffic, Sidra, Vistro, HCS, and VISSIM under the guidance of senior staff.

  • Assist with traffic forecasting, capacity analyses, and level-of-service evaluations.

  • Prepare clear, concise technical reports, exhibits, memos, and agency submittals.

  • Develop conceptual traffic layouts, operational diagrams, and analysis graphics to support project documentation.

  • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and designers across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Assist with presentations and provide technical support at meetings with agencies, stakeholders, and community groups.

  • Apply local, state, and federal transportation standards and regulations to ensure compliance and technical accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.

  • 2+ years of experience in traffic engineering, traffic analysis, or transportation planning.

  • FE/EIT preferred.

  • Working knowledge of traffic analysis software such as Synchro, SimTraffic, Sidra, Vistro, HCS, and/or VISSIM.

  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Passion for collaboration and continuous learning.
