We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Engineer / Civil Engineer to join our team in California. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to major transportation projects that enhance mobility, safety, and sustainability in our communities. This Position is based in San Diego, CA.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience overseeing civil / traffic engineering, transportation planning, and project management initiatives for private and state projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and analyze traffic control systems, roadway improvements, and signal timing plans.
  • Conduct traffic impact studies, safety analyses, and corridor studies.
  • Prepare and review engineering plans, technical reports, and specifications.
  • Work collaboratively with public agencies, municipalities, and private sector clients.
  • Utilize software such as Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, and AutoCAD to model and analyze traffic conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.
  • Manage projects, budgets, and client relationships effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in California (or ability to obtain within six months).
  • 5+ years of experience in traffic engineering or transportation planning.
  • Proficiency in traffic analysis tools such as Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of MUTCD, HCM, and Caltrans design standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Traffic Engineer (TE) license in California.
  • Experience with ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) and signal system design.
  • Familiarity with funding applications and grant processes for transportation projects.
  • Experience working with public agencies such as Caltrans, counties, and local municipalities.
