Toolroom Machinist Wanted: Essential Tasks
- Analyze and interpret blueprints, schematics, and CAD drawings to create and build new fixtures, tools, and machine parts.
- Select appropriate raw materials and machine processes to ensure projects are completed to precise specifications.
- Proficiency in operating all toolroom machines, including Knee Mills, 3-5 axis mills, lathes, surface grinders, saws, etc.
- Utilize applied shop math, such as Geometry and Trigonometry, to determine the best approach for each task.
- Modify machines to control speed, material feed, or path of cut, ensuring high-quality products are produced within specifications.
- Verify finished workpiece conformance to required tolerances on design drawings using precision measuring equipment, such as sine plates, gauge blocks, Cadillac gauge, micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
- Accurately document actions by reporting labor in the ERP system.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by performing daily housekeeping duties.
- Demonstrate the ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly.
- Take ownership of accomplishing new and diverse requests, contributing to the achievement of organizational goals.
- Follow all policies and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Always be accountable for your actions and act as a reliable team player.
- Good technical math skills (shop math, geometry, and trigonometry) and a high level of verbal/written communication skills are essential.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities are highly valued.
- Be self-motivated and display a strong eagerness to learn.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Proficiency in operating all toolroom machines, i.e., mills, lathes, grinders, saws, etc.
- Strong technical math skills (shop math, geometry, and trigonometry).
- Must be a United States Citizen or a US Permanent Resident.
